Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 & Pro Specs: Everything We Know So Far About Qualcomm's 2nm Chips

Qualcomm's next big chips are already leaking online. From a tiny 2nm build to crazy fast LPDDR6 RAM support, here is exactly what you need to know about the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 lineup.

The smartphone hardware race is getting ridiculous. We are still a few months out from Qualcomm's usual September launch event, but the leaks are already dropping. Some reliable sources just shared a ton of info on two upcoming flagship chips: the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a beefed-up Pro version.

Here is exactly what the new leak tells us.

The Big 2nm Shift First things first, both of these new chips are making the jump to TSMC's 2nm manufacturing process. Why should you care? A smaller node basically means the chip runs cooler and drains way less battery, even if you are gaming heavily. They will also share a 2+3+3 core setup, balancing high performance with everyday efficiency.

What About the Standard Gen 6? The base model (known internally as SM8950) is packing some serious heat. It features an Adreno 845 GPU along with 12MB of GMEM. To handle background apps, it supports quad-channel LPDDR5X RAM and packs a 6MB cache. Honestly, this chip is going to be overkill for most users anyway.

The Pro Model Goes Crazy If you want maxed-out specs, the SM8975 model (the rumored Pro version) is what you should watch. It upgrades the graphics to an Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB of GMEM.

Memory is where the Pro model actually shines. It looks like it will support the much faster LPDDR6 RAM (specifically quad-channel 24-bit). You still get regular LPDDR5X support too, along with an 8MB cache. Faster RAM simply means your apps load quicker and on-device tasks run without any hiccups.

Oh, the leak also mentioned a regular, non-Elite "Snapdragon 8 Gen 6" is coming for budget phones, but the specs on that one are dialed way back.

TecHoper's Take When our team checked out these numbers, the LPDDR6 RAM upgrade on the Pro model was the biggest surprise. Since AI tools are eating up so much memory these days, having faster RAM is a big deal. Moving to 2nm while boosting memory speeds means phones coming out later this year will stay fast for a very long time.

I'm mostly just curious to see which smartphone brand manages to grab the Pro chip first. We will keep you updated as soon as we hear more!
