Xiaomi has stopped being subtle about its next Redmi Note launch in India. A new teaser has gone live on both Xiaomi's India website and Amazon, and while the company hasn't named the phone outright, all signs point to the Redmi Note 17.

Xiaomi, Redmi Note 17, Redmi, POCO M8 Power, India smartphone launches

The teaser carries the tagline "Your longest days just met their match," alongside "The all-new Note, Coming Soon." While Xiaomi's own microsite doesn't spell out the model name, the Amazon India version of the same banner includes text referencing "Redmi Note 17 2026 launch," effectively confirming which phone this is for.

A Teaser Built Entirely Around Battery Life

The tagline itself is a clear hint. It aligns with reports that the Redmi Note 17 will carry a large battery, matching the 8,000mAh cell already confirmed on the Chinese variant, which launched in China last week. Xiaomi appears to be leaning entirely on endurance as the phone's headline selling point for this teaser campaign.

What's Expected on the Spec Sheet

Neither microsite reveals official specifications, but tipster Abhishek Yadav has filled in much of the picture. According to these reports, the Indian Redmi Note 17 is expected to retain the 8,000mAh battery, an OLED display, a 50MP Light Fusion 400 primary camera, and an 8MP front camera, largely mirroring the Chinese model's hardware. It's worth noting one point of confusion in the reporting: some sources describe the Indian variant's 8,000mAh battery as identical to the China model, while at least one report frames it as an upgrade over a smaller 7,700mAh Chinese battery. Until Xiaomi confirms exact figures, this detail should be treated as unsettled.

On the display, the Chinese Redmi Note 17 uses a 7-inch flat OLED panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 1,800 nits peak brightness, though it's unconfirmed whether the Indian variant retains identical panel dimensions.

Powering the device is expected to be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, a notable step down from the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 used in the outgoing Redmi Note 15, paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage on the base variant. The phone is tipped to run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, with four years of OS updates and five years of security patches promised.

A Familiar Xiaomi Strategy: One Phone, Two Brands

Separately, tipster Kacper Skrzypek has claimed the POCO M8 Power may launch in India as a rebranded version of this same phone, spotting references to it within HyperOS firmware tied to a model number closely related to the Chinese Redmi Note 17. With the POCO M8 Power already teased on Flipkart and Xiaomi's Redmi Note microsite now live on Amazon, this looks like another instance of Xiaomi selling essentially the same hardware under two different sub-brands through separate retail platforms, something the company has done several times before.

Expected Launch Timing and Price

According to the same tipster, the Redmi Note 17 could launch in India on August 6, with the first sale beginning August 11. Reported pricing points to the base variant costing over Rs 30,000, though estimates across different reports have ranged as high as Rs 35,000 given the ongoing RAM cost pressures affecting the industry.

At that price, the phone's chipset downgrade could be a point of scrutiny, since the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 sits below several processors already available closer to the Rs 20,000 mark. Xiaomi appears to be betting that battery endurance alone can carry the phone's appeal in a segment where competitors like the OnePlus Nord CE 6 already offer large batteries of their own. None of this has been officially confirmed by Xiaomi, so exact pricing and specifications should be treated as reported until the company's own announcement.
