Redmi Note 15 SE 5G Launching in India on April 2: Vegan Leather Design & Key Specs Confirmed!

Xiaomi brings a premium red vegan leather finish to its budget mid-range segment.

Xiaomi is expanding its current Note 15 lineup in India with a brand new "Special Edition." Officially confirmed to launch as the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G on April 2, this new device promises a premium, bold look for budget-conscious buyers. If you are planning to grab a smartphone that actually stands out from the usual glass and plastic slabs this month, here is a quick look at what the SE variant offers.

A Premium Vegan Leather Design: The biggest highlight of the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G is its upgraded design. Based on the latest teasers, it drops the standard glossy look for a striking deep red vegan leather back panel, paired with a shiny gold-finished frame.

If we look closely, this aesthetic is basically the Indian rebrand of the highly popular "New Year Cherry Red" edition that Xiaomi launched in the Chinese market earlier this year. The camera island also gets a matching golden touch, giving it a much more expensive vibe.

Expected Specifications & Features: While the exterior gets a major facelift, the internals are expected to remain identical to the standard Redmi Note 15. You get the same massive 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, all powered by the reliable Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.

For photography, the SE model will likely retain the impressive 108MP primary camera on the back and a 20MP front-facing shooter for selfies. To keep the device running all day, Xiaomi has packed a massive 5,520mAh battery with 45W fast charging support.

Availability: In India, the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G will be sold exclusively via Flipkart. Xiaomi clearly has a packed schedule, as the affordable Redmi 15A is also slated to launch just days before this, on March 27th.

TecHoper's Take: Bringing a premium vegan leather finish to the budget mid-range segment is a smart move by Redmi. It adds that much-needed flagship touch to an affordable phone. If Xiaomi prices this Special Edition aggressively—around the Rs 20,000 mark—it could easily become a massive hit among buyers looking for a stylish daily driver.
