Redmi K90 Max Launch Date Confirmed: It Has a Real Built-in Cooling Fan!
Redmi is getting ready to launch a very unique smartphone for gamers. The company just confirmed that the new Redmi K90 Max will officially launch on April 21. From a massive battery to an actual physical fan on the back, here is everything we know about this crazy device.
If you play heavy games on your phone, you already know that heating is the biggest problem. Phone brands usually use internal cooling plates to fix this, but Redmi is doing something totally different.
The brand has officially announced that the Redmi K90 Max will launch in China on April 21. It will sit right between the standard K90 and the premium K90 Pro Max. Let's look at why this phone is grabbing so much attention.
A Physical Cooling Fan Inside the Phone The most surprising feature of the K90 Max is its back design. It is the first Redmi phone to come with a real, built-in air fan.
It uses an 18.1mm fan that pulls air in and blows hot air out to drop the phone's temperature in just a few seconds. The crazy part is that even with an open vent for the fan, the phone still has IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings. This means it is still fully protected against heavy dust and water.
Redmi did not hold back on the screen either. The phone features a large 6.83-inch display.
If you like fast-paced games, you will love the 165Hz refresh rate. Redmi says over 40 games are already optimized to run at a super smooth 165 frames per second on this device. The screen also gets incredibly bright, hitting a peak of 3500 nits, so you will have no trouble seeing it under direct sunlight.
Massive Battery and Performance To handle that big screen and cooling fan, the phone needs a lot of power. Leaks suggest the K90 Max will pack a massive 8,000mAh or even an 8,500mAh battery. When it runs out, you can charge it up very quickly using the 100W fast charger.
For performance, it uses the high-end MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip (built on a 3nm process). It also has a separate graphics chip just to handle heavy games. Other nice features include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a strong metal frame, and loud dual speakers.
What Else is Launching on April 21? Redmi is not just launching a phone. The company also confirmed that they will reveal a few other devices at the same event:
-
Redmi K Pad 2: A powerful new tablet using the Dimensity 9500 chip.
-
Redmi Pad 2 SE: A budget-friendly tablet for basic daily use.
-
Redmi Book Pro (2026): New 14-inch and 16-inch laptops.
TecHoper's Take Putting a real spinning fan inside a regular smartphone is a very bold move by Redmi. Usually, we only see this kind of hardware on super expensive, bulky gaming phones like the RedMagic series. If Redmi can sell this phone at a mid-range price, it will completely destroy the competition. Also, packing an 8000mAh battery while keeping the phone fully water-resistant is a huge engineering win. We really hope Xiaomi decides to launch the K90 Max globally (maybe rebranded as a Poco phone) later this year!
