Xiaomi's Redmi K-series has followed a fairly predictable launch pattern in recent years — the standard model arrives first, with the Pro and Pro Max variants following later. According to a new leak, that pattern could be reversed for the upcoming Redmi K100 series.

Tipster Points to a Reversed Launch Order

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi has reportedly changed its rollout plan, with the Redmi K100 Pro series now expected to launch ahead of the standard Redmi K100. This contradicts earlier reports that had the vanilla K100 debuting first. The tipster's reasoning centers on certification activity: the standard Redmi K100 has not yet appeared on the certification platforms typically required before a Chinese launch, unlike other upcoming Redmi devices, which has led to speculation that Xiaomi may have adjusted its roadmap.

What's Tipped for the Display, Chipset and Battery

Following the K-series' usual approach of offering two different screen sizes, the standard Redmi K100 is rumoured to feature a 6.59-inch display, while the Redmi K100 Pro Max is tipped to get a larger 6.9-inch panel supporting refresh rates up to 185Hz. Both models are said to run on a Snapdragon 8-series processor, with battery capacities reportedly reaching up to 9,000mAh, and both are expected to ship with Xiaomi's next-generation HyperOS software.

Certification Details

Two Redmi smartphones have recently cleared China's 3C certification authority — one carrying the model number M098FF, the other M511CD. Both listings confirm support for 100W fast charging using Xiaomi's MDY-18-EW adapter, and both devices have also reportedly received approval from China's MIIT certification body. According to Digital Chat Station, neither of these model numbers corresponds to the standard K100, and one of them is expected to be the Redmi K100 Pro Max. The Pro Max is also tipped to include a symmetrical dual-speaker setup, suggesting Xiaomi is prioritizing audio quality alongside display and battery upgrades on the higher-end model.

Some Uncertainty Remains on Timing and Chipset

It's worth noting that reports on the exact chipset and timeline have varied. While this leak points to a Snapdragon 8-series chip broadly, other reports have specifically named the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for the initial K100 and K100 Pro models, with a separate, more powerful variant possibly waiting on Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset — which could push a true flagship-tier Pro Max variant into early 2027 rather than alongside the rest of the lineup this year. These conflicting reports haven't been reconciled, so the exact rollout sequence and chipset assignment across the K100 family should be treated as still evolving.

Techoper's Take

A reversed launch order isn't a routine detail — it usually reflects either a manufacturing bottleneck on the base model or a deliberate decision to lead with the more attention-grabbing Pro variant while demand and component supply are sorted out for the cheaper model. Given the ongoing memory and component cost pressures affecting the industry this year, delaying the standard K100 while pushing the higher-margin Pro Max out first would make commercial sense for Xiaomi, even if it's a break from past K-series habits.

The bigger unresolved thread here is the chipset question. If the Pro Max ends up waiting for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 rather than shipping with the same Gen 5 chip as the base K100 and Pro, that alone could justify Xiaomi's reported decision to launch it later than usual, not sooner — which sits in tension with this specific leak's claim of a Pro-first strategy. Until Xiaomi provides an official roadmap, readers should treat the launch order itself as the least settled part of this story.
